The Baltimore Sun’s Web site has finally added the Honeywell Educators at Space Academy project I spent my entire summer internship working on. It’s over. My internship at The Baltimore Sun has finally come to an end, but it was an experience that has taught me many things about the news industry. I worked this past week on pulling together everything I’d been working on for the Space Academy project to turn over to the multimedia team. I [...]

Last Wednesday was my first day going out by myself and doing some reporting for The Sun. I’d have to say I was more than a little nervous, but not for the reporting. It was my first time driving anywhere (besides The Sun office) in downtown Baltimore.
Once I got to Camden Yards to do some [...]

At 7 p.m. on June 25, I stood outside of The Windup Space in Baltimore, eagerly waiting to see if I could get in to the Ignite Baltimore 3 event. Lucky for me, I am interning at The Baltimore Sun and I guess you could say my badge comes with a few perks. I got [...]

Connectivity, immediacy and a global awareness of news all deal with using the social media to your personal advantage.
Mary Hartney, director of audience engagement at The Sun, discussed with me yesterday the power that is in our own hands to use social media to reach audiences globally.
Connecting with our audience is one step. We all [...]

Yesterday at The Sun, I worked with Merlin, the photo archive we use, and uploaded the Space Academy profile pictures of many of the teachers that are taking part in this training with NASA. After filling in all of the captions, cutlines, credits, etc., the finishing result was posted on The Sun’s web site.
It [...]
